The bucket hat, also known as the fishing hat, is said to have been introduced around 1900. These hats were originally made from wool felt or tweed cloth and traditionally worn by Irish farmers and fishermen as protection from the rain.

Bucket hats have made a revival since 2019 and really took over in 2021 with global icons and trendsetters like Billie Eilish, Rihanna, Bella Hadid, Leonardo Dicaprio, Kaia Gerber, and many more wearing them. Many big brands from Nike and Adidas to Gucci and Barbour produced their own designs. Fashionable bucket hat designs included everything from zebra and tiger print designs to gingham and floral prints.
